Peppered with questions about his hot-potato changes to Freedom-of-Information laws, the Premier capitulated and said the move was to shield his personal cellphone records from the public — something the government has even gone to court over (even the cost of the legal battle remains a mystery).

“When it comes to a cabinet conversation within cabinet and on personal cellphones, that should not be FOI-able,” he said, then promptly accused reporters of wanting to expose individuals’ personal information.

“I know you guys, you’ll pull out every single number and someone’s health records.”

Despite that contention, such info would almost certainly be redacted, and most cabinet records are already guarded against release through “cabinet confidence” exemptions.
