LIBERALS GET LITIGIOUS
Liberal sweeps week continues, with Scarborough Southwest candidate AHSANUL HAFIZ and interim leader JOHN FRASER pushing back on failed contender NATE ERSKINE-SMITH’s contention that Saturday’s high-stakes nomination was chockfull of irregularities.
Erskine-Smith has until tonight to formally challenge the results of the Scarborough Southwest nomination, which he lost by a razor thin margin of 19 votes. He had alleged voter ID problems in the ballot-counting room, but said he needed to debrief with his war room to decide whether to file an appeal — and what it all means for his nascent leadership bid.
Team NES met yesterday to weigh their options and are “seriously considering” contesting the results, but we won’t know for sure until today.
Fraser and Hafiz aren’t sweating it at this point, insisting to reporters at Queen’s Park that the process was fair and anyone suggesting otherwise should “prove it.” (…
