From my perch in the press gallery, covering Ford often feels like watching two stories unfold at once: the chaos of the headline controversy, and the discipline of the strategy behind it. Take the jet fiasco for instance. Even when he’s in hot water, that very issue took up loads of oxygen, dominating the headlines and public attention (Ford himself couldn’t stop talking about it). At the same time, his government was moving ahead with hot-potato FOI changes under the cover of darkness (literally).
