And farewell to the chief

A PRIVATE APOLOGY, AFTER A VERY PUBLIC BLOWUP
Liberal MPP STEPHANIE SMYTH says Premier DOUG FORD reached out privately to apologize for his personal jab about the former CP24 anchor not being wanted at the news desk — though it remains to be seen whether he’ll repeat that apology on the record when the House reconvenes next week.
Smyth is taking the high road, noting Ford called her to say sorry, which she accepted and thanked him for. “What happens in that chamber reflects on all of us. When we walk through those doors we owe it to our constituents, and to each other, to bring out best. The legislature exists for one reason: to debate the issues, to find what is best for our province. That is much larger than any one exchange.”
Either way, the damage is done, and the moment is still bounding around Queen’s Park.
And the blowback isn’t just coming from the Grits. Even some Progressive Conservative insiders have been grum…
