It’s the eve of the byelections and the political parties are gunning hard to woo voters — some more than others, at least when it comes to social media.
I parsed Meta’s ad library disclosures, which tells us which parties are targeting voters in Scarborough Southwest, York-Simcoe, Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and beyond.
The Grits are blowing their opponents out of the water. Their ad with the second-highest impressions pumps up HEINO DOESSING, the repeat candidate in HESC who placed second behind the PCs in the last round.
Another byelection ad attacks the PC flag-bearer NOOR TARUN, who previously ran for the federal Conservatives. “Is this the type of reckless conservative that Scarborough needs?” it asks, with a graphic of Tarun and federal captain PIERRE POILIEVRE shaking hands. “Choose a better voice for our community. Vote Liberal & AHSANUL HAFIZ.”
