The Premier took to the podium again and, in true DOUG FORD-form, is making waves. Here’s what he said:
On expanding runways and bringing jets to Toronto’s Billy Bishop island airport: Ford is plowing ahead (“we’re visionaries”) and says Ottawa is on side with the plan. He insists Toronto Mayor OLIVIA CHOW is also on board with the expansion, and while she may “disagree with the jets” Ford is willing to take over the City’s stake “one way or another.”
That internal poll Ford previously pointed to suggesting 70 per cent of Ontarians are on board with the expansion was also leaked to the Star.
As for island dwellers who oppose the move: Ford dismissed them as “squatters.” He added: “Folks, game’s over…We aren’t going to worry about the one percenters that affect the 99 per cent of the rest of the population.”
Meanwhile: Transportation Minister PRABMEET SARKARIA was on hand at the airport to announce pre-clearance for passengers flying to the U.S.
