FORD FACES THE PRESS, BUT STILES STEALS THE SHOW
DOUG FORD held his first press conference after what has been a very rough couple of weeks for his government.
But it was Opposition NDP Leader MARIT STILES’s scrum that hijacked the Premier’s return to the mic.
Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park about the government’s FOI changes, Stiles said Ford would maybe not be running in the next election because he’ll “be in prison.”
It was a wild moment. Stiles didn’t exactly stick the landing. After making the comment, she quietly said “yep” to herself, looked down and appeared to grimace, almost as if she knew how explosive her statement would be in real time. A reporter quickly jumped in with an incredulous “what?”, and Stiles doubled down.
It comes as Stiles has escalated her attacks on Ford over the government’s gutting of FOI laws and what she calls shady PC government dealings. She promised to launch a public inquiry if elected Premier.
