Premier DOUG FORD met with reporters at Queen’s Park and, naturally, nabbed a bunch of headlines on everything from the U.S. midterms to municipal funding (or not). Here’s what went down:
On the Democrats sweeping the Senate and Congress: The Premier offered up some classic Ford-isms, saying he was doing “cartwheels” and was “as happy as possible” when the results came in. President DONALD “TRUMP wants to blame everyone but himself,” he said. “The cheese has slipped off the cracker with this guy.”
But but but: That doesn’t mean “the trade war is done.” It’s “not even close” since Trump still holds the power and tariffs are still on the table, for now.
Trash talk: That includes levies on garbage Ontario sends south of the border, and Ford reiterated his desire to turn “trash into cash” and said he’s reading up on how other jurisdictions like Europe turns waste into energy.
