Don’t hold your breath for a cabinet shuffle today.
Premier DOUG FORD didn’t exactly tamp down the chatter that he could shake up his front bench as early as today. Asked by reporters whether he’s thinking about a big shuffle or a little one, Ford offered only: “Stay tuned.”
And sure, a June switcheroo would make sense: a reset after a rough, “gravy plane”-induced run; an extra-long recess for ministers to get up to speed on new portfolios; and a chance to debut the new crew on stage at Ford Fest later this month.
But for now, it appears Ford is biding his time.
As my sources have previously suggested here,, Ford might be forced to shuffle if, say, he loses more front-benchers, or if the Integrity Commissioner drops a bad-news report on the Skills Development Fund.
But with Finance Minister PETER BETHLENFALVY sticking around, Ford has been given the gift of time.
